Waimea Harrier events cater for people of all abilities, including competitive runners and walkers, families looking for an outdoor activity they can enjoy together, and social runners and walkers of all ages.

Everyone and all comers are welcome to this free event. Bring a plate for after-event tea!
Join us for the Scarecrow Scamper Cross Country on Saturday 10 June 2023 at Martin and Jill Bonny’s farm, 297 Tapawera-Baton Road, Tapawera, about 50km/40 minutes drive from Richmond. Google Maps.
Get ready for a traditional rural X-country experience with 3.3km laps that will take you through private farmland, gentle hills and quite possibly some mud!
All ages and abilities of runners and walkers are welcome.
We have a shorter 1.7km ‘Rascal Romp’ course for smaller children and 1, 2 or 3 laps of the longer 3.3km ‘Scarecrow Scamper’ loop course for adults and older children.
Previously registered runners & walkers will have been entered into a distance/category based on the Wallace Shield & last years event. Check HERE
Registration is on the farm at the barn from 1pm with the event briefing at 1:45pm.
Walkers start at 1:45pm, all Runners start at 2pm and the Rascal Romp kids start at 2:05pm.
Bring a plate for the after-party at the farmhouse!
This event is free to everyone, but we encourage participants to join the Waimea Harrier club, as this is a race in our Winter Programme. All ages and abilities of runners and walkers are welcome.
