Waimea Harrier events cater for people of all abilities, including competitive runners and walkers, families looking for an outdoor activity they can enjoy together, and social runners and walkers of all ages.

Sharland Cycles 5k Run & Walk Series 25/26
17 December 2025 - Colin's Course
Wednesday evening 17th December is the last of our 5km runs and walks before Christmas. Its Colin's Course, so come along and check it out! The course map is HERE.
We start again after Christmas every Wednesday night in February & March '26.
Registration: From 5:30pm in the Club Waimea Carpark (Google Maps HERE).
Walkers Briefing: 6:00pm at Start Line
Walkers Start: 6:05pm.
Runners Briefing: 6:05pm by Check-In
Runners Start: 6:15pm.
Entry Fee: $3 (free for school kids and youth students).
Christmas Meal - We will be having a Christmas meal after our last 5k before Christmas, 17 December, which is also a Christmas themed race/event. Contact Elaine if you want to join us and have not filled in the form that has been passed around. Cost: $20 per meal. (Waimea Harriers have subsidised this by $5.00) Menu Options: Hot Ham & Veggies - Fish,Chips & Salad - Chicken Schnitzel, Salad, Chips & Gravy - Vegetarian meal. Note that all orders must be in and paid for by Sunday 14th December.

Summer Pub Runs

runners – 4.00pm
everyone is very welcome to join us
these runs have no marshals, no cones,
no entry fee, (a few exceptions)
you just turn up and enjoy.
Times are taken and published for all events.
All competitors enter at their own risk with safety
being the priority for all competitors,
observing all traffic and safety rules is a must
eg. run on footpaths, other users, give way to all cars etc."
Milnes Beatson "Wakefield Roaster" 10k & 5k
17 January 2026
The first Waimea Harriers event in 2026 is the Milnes Beatson Wakefield Roaster - a 5km and 10km fun run or walk on the 17th January. This event takes place on a lovely course through Wakefield and the surrounding countryside.
Registration: 2:15pm to 3pm outside the Wakefield Police Station.
3:10pm Start for 10k walkers.
3:30pm Start for all 5k competitors and 10k runners.
Entry fees:
$5 for the 5k event, $10 for the 10k event.
Free for juniors, youth students and paid-up 2026 members of Waimea Harriers & Athletics Nelson.
It can be very hot during this summer event and there's a real risk of overheating when you're out running or walking. Remember to hydrate well during the day, as well as before and during the event. There will be a water station at 2.5km and stations with water and cold flannels at 5km & the finish.

Waimea Harriers reserves the right to change or shorten the course, or change the time or even cancel the event depending on the weather conditions on the day.
We're using Webscorer for timing so you need a number! Check if you already have a number from previous Waimea Harriers or Athletics Nelson events HERE.
In order to speed up registration on the day, everyone with an existing Webscorer number has been pre-entered as a 10k Runner. If you plan to do the 5k event or walk either distance please email webscorer@waimeaharriers.nz to get your category corrected.
